When we launched Stars earlier this year, we had one goal: create a daily puzzle that would give your brain the kind of thoughtful workout it craves. The response has been incredible—thousands of you have made Stars part of your morning routine, sharing solutions with family and telling us it's become "the highlight of my morning."

But we always planned for Inkwell Games to be more than a single puzzle. Today, we're thrilled to introduce Fields—our second daily logic challenge that exercises a completely different part of your brain.

What Makes Fields Different?

Like Stars, Fields is a grid-based logic puzzle with one solution and zero guessing. But, it takes you on a totally different journey to the answer.

In Fields, you're filling the grid with vibrant colored areas—green and blue fields that can never touch each other. Each field contains exactly one number that tells you its size. Your job? Figure out where each colored area belongs using pure logic and spatial reasoning.

While Stars challenges you to think strategically about placement and relationships, Fields engages your visual-spatial intelligence. It's the difference between chess and architecture—both require logical thinking, but they activate different cognitive muscles.

What Our Beta Testers Discovered

Before launching Fields publicly, we invited our most dedicated Stars players to test it out. Their feedback was illuminating:

"It's different from Stars—it itches something different" was how one tester put it. Others loved the visual nature: "I am a visual thinker, so the color worked for me" and appreciated how "you must THINK AHEAD or you fall into easy mistakes."

Many found Fields more challenging initially, which makes sense. When you're learning new solving strategies, your brain has to work harder. But that's exactly what makes it so rewarding.

The Learning Curve Is Worth It

One tester captured the Fields experience perfectly: "The more days I played, the more I liked it."

This mirrors what we've seen with Stars. The first few puzzles might feel tricky as you develop your solving strategies, but once those techniques click, you'll find yourself craving that daily dose of spatial reasoning.

Why Two Daily Puzzles?

Research shows that cognitive flexibility involves dynamic processes that allow adaptation of thinking and behavior in response to changing contextual demands, with beneficial effects on multiple aspects of everyday life (Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2024). By offering both Stars and Fields, we're giving you tools to exercise different cognitive skills.

Some of you will gravitate toward one puzzle or the other. Others will make both part of their daily routine. There's no wrong approach—the key is finding the mental challenges that engage and energize you.

Ready to Play?

Like Stars, Fields follows our signature difficulty curve: gentle on Monday, progressively more challenging through the week, and devilishly hard by Sunday.

Whether you're a devoted Stars player ready for something new, or someone who's been waiting for a more visual puzzle experience, we think you'll love what Fields brings to your daily routine.

What's Next?

We're already deep in development on our third daily puzzle (yes, really!). Our vision is to become the go-to platform for high-quality logic puzzles that families can enjoy together.

Fields brings us one step closer to that goal. We can't wait to hear which puzzle becomes your favorite—or if you'll join the growing number of players who tackle both daily challenges.

As always, we're here if you get stuck.

Happy puzzling, and welcome to the world of Fields!
